Charlie Berch

With over 33 years of experience Charles Berch has become one Central NY's Top Pro Sports photographers.

After seeing a add for "Photographers Wanted" Charlie Berch first picked up a camera for the first time in 1987 as a way to get free pit passes to a local Race track. Learning as he went along and having a knack for "being in the Right Spot at the Right time" Charlie quickly moved his way up the ranks in the world of  sports photography. He began shooting motor sports for local weekly papers which continued his growth.

After a taking a couple huge news photos in 1991 at Watkins Glen International he was hired as a contributing photographer by  NASCAR Scene the sports top newspaper a position he held for over 15 years. 

   In 2003 he became a stringer for the Associated Press out of their Buffalo NY office. In addition to covering all events at Watkins Glen International for the AP this also lead to assisting at the NCAA Mens Div. 1 basketball tourneys in 2004, 2005, 2007 &  2010 and being one of the only central NY Photographers to have the honor of being apart of the AP Photo Dept. for 6 straight NFL Super Bowls - 39-44.

   Charlie Berch has been published and done free lance work for nearly every weekly and daily Newspaper in the Central NY State area in addition to being Published in some of the biggest Newspapers in the US such as the USA Today, The New York Times, The Charlotte Observer, Cleveland Plain Dealer, NY Daily News and more.

  In addition to newspapers Charles Berch has also been published in many local and national magazines such as:

Sports Illustrated, NASCAR Illustrated, Lacrosse Magazine, Modern Drummer, Civil War times, and more.

 Regardless of the many high profile events in his career Charles Berch is just as comfortable photographing a pee wee football game as the Super Bowl.

Charles Berch of CBerch Photo is also honored to have two of his photos displayed in Racing Museums both in the state of North Carolina. The above photos are taken at the Memory Lane Racing Museum in Morrisville NC. The photo on display is his cover shot from August 2000 NASCAR Scene of Robert Pressley's fiery Wreck at Bristol. The photo to the left is on display at the World Famous Richard Petty Racing museum in Level Cross NC. Its a photo of JD McDuffie, Dave Marcis and Richard Petty and was taken on Aug. 11 1991 the tragic day the JD was killed on lap 5 of the Bud at the Glen at Watkins Glen International. Its was purchased by the Associated Press and used world wide and was also recently used in the book- JD "The life and death of a NASCAR Legend by Brock Beard.
